Giving Your Blog Post Some Extra Marketing Energy Part Five
Over the last few weeks we’ve covered a lot on blogging, and how to suck in traffic to your website. You have all the ingredients to create a fantastic blog post.
If your blog was a nice drink, you’d be telling everyone how fresh fruit, maybe some yoghurt and some ice cubes were utterly transformative and they should try some too. If someone wanted to make your smoothie, they could.
But what if you wanted to give your blog posts more energy? If they were smoothies you’d add a little booster… If they were cocktails you’d add a little umbrella, maybe a sparkler… If it was a glass of Prosecco you’d add a dash of Crème De Cassis and sit back and sip it with a smile…
What do you add to a blog to give it more energy?
You create soul-igniting visuals. Using a tool such as a Canva, PicMonkey or Stencil you don’t have to be a graphic designer. Which is good news for you and bad news for Sashka. There are only so many hours in the day, and you have more important things to do than learn graphic design.
All you have to do is take 4 minutes to find a good visual from a site like Pixabay, load it into the program of choice and then add the blog post’s headline. You now know why a great headline is so important!
4 minutes is all it takes to brand your image with your logo, your headline and a gorgeous image.
Download it to your desktop, and then upload it into your blog post and it’s almost done. I say almost as you can also optimise your blog post for social media.
If you have Yoast SEO installed on your website, you’ll love what you can do to optimise the post for social media. That takes about another 10 minutes. That’s a grand total of 14 minutes that will re-energise your content and make it work harder for you.
Do you have to do this? Of course not! You can throw a heap of cash at paid traffic or trawl FB groups asking people to buy your stuff, but you have to do that all of the time… ALL. OF. THE. TIME, This style of marketing stops working when you do.
So if you want to do the work once, add visuals to your blog posts. If you’re happy to spend all day hustling on Facebook when you have better things to do, then don’t. Is there a middle ground? Of course there is! Outsource all the image creation to your Brand Manager (see! You knew there was a reason why Sashka didn’t throw me out at the top of the post) and then get your VA to add them to your content.
You have a choice, and that’s what I love about you dear reader. You’re here reading this and making a choice to do your marketing once, so you can do more important things like find the recipe for the perfect smoothie or watch episodes of Suits sipping Kir Royales.
Other people have seen this and wandered off muttering, and this time next year they’ll still be muttering. You’ve taken action, you’ve energized your blog posts and now you’re ready to take on the world.
